Spotlight on Center Stage 2006
"Coming To America"
BRAVO!! and THANK YOU one and all for an exhilarating day of performances.
Huge 'kudos' to the CSDA faculty and staff, the VIVA volunteer group, the backstage moms, the fabulous and helpful stage crew led by Phil Kan, and also to the photographers for "delivering" a both timely and great product. We will look forward to the video in a few weeks.
We are extremely happy with the "rave reviews" and the outcome of both shows this year. It seems we may have actually found the solution we were looking for with the presentation of the younger students !

A great time was had by all!
Saturday saw the grande finale of National Dance Week in El Dorado Hills. From 10 am in the morning to 4 pm in the afternoon dancers of all types displayed and demonstrated their talents in a marathon show in the new EDH library in Serrano. Representing Center Stage Dance were the XtravaDanzerz, Compani 2, Christine Martorana's Tappers, Katherine Harrison's Cloggers, Kehau showing her usual excellent Polynesian styles, and Karen Thomson's Line Dancers. El Dorado Dance Academy's Kaleidoscope dancers were present and a special treat of the El Dorado Scandinavian Dancers came by in full costume to enchant the crowd with authentic folk dancing complete with full audience participation. Laura Larsen and her girls provided a wonderful demonstration of Irish dancing in dazzling costumes.
The day was made possible by EDH library children's librarian, Veronica and the many Dance Moms (and their husbands!) including Lynn Hayek, Janene Shields, Linda Jo Taylor, and Deborah Zablotsky. Holding it all together in her usual stellar way was Susan Adams.
There will be plenty of pictures available from Mark Zablotsky on his Smugmug web site. Mark says that the proceeds from the pictures will go to the Children's Tumor Foundation and the victims of hurricane Katrina. Call CSDA at 916-939-7222 for the password.
A special thanks to professional videographer Tom Calise who did yeoman's work videotaping the whole event. Please support him by buying a DVD of the events of the day. Details of how to order will be posted later. Watch this space...
And thanks to ALL the audience members who came by to watch these fabulous dancers!

The CSDA Winter performance of "The Dancer's Gift" netted over $5,500 for the Children's Tumor Foundation!
A heartfelt thanks for a "wonder-full" Benefit Performance on Saturday, December 3rd at Jackson Elementary School. The Dancer's Gift was aptly named as our dancers shared their talents with two appreciative audiences.
Ticket sales generated over $5000 for the Children's Tumor Foundation which researches a cure for Neurofibromatosis. Thanks to those of you who added a 'little extra donation' to your ticket order.
Our guest of honor, Haley Simmons, just six years old, was delightful as she took the microphone from her mother, Sandy, and thanked everyone for their support. Haley's parents donated an additional $500 which was then matched by Sun Microsystems where Mr. Simmons is employed.
More than $6000 will be welcomed by the researchers work towards finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis.
We extend our sincerest thanks to the members of our newly formed volunteer organization for each individual's dedication in making this such a successful and memorable event. VIVA!
Check out Pete Anderson's photographs and be sure to place your order for the video - this one is going to be good!
